Sharing presentation slides are a common occurrence when it comes to Events in Demio! They allow you to showcase and visualize your points in a slide deck for your Attendees to follow along.

Let's break down the different ways that you can easily and directly share a presentation from one of the popular presentation apps using our built-in screen share option.

Note: We have a built-in feature to add a Slide Material to your Event. These allow you to upload your presentation slides (as a PDF file) straight onto Demio and present your slides directly inside of Demio without needing to share your screen.

Using PowerPoint

If you have the option, we recommend using PowerPoint. It has a feature that allows you to enable presentation mode in a window instead of going full screen.

This is effective because you can then share just that individual window from Demio and your Attendees will only see the single PowerPoint window.

While presenting, the Presenter can still access the Chat Box and reply to any questions/comments raised by any of the Attendees.

Another option to stay engaged with your chat is to pop-out the chat. This puts your chat in a separate window for easy use.

The How-To

To be able to run the presentation in a resizable window, you can enable presentation mode in a window on PowerPoint by changing the slideshow settings:

  1. Click on Slideshow option ( from the ribbon/menu bar in earlier versions)

  2. Click Slide Show and select Set Up Slide Show

  3. In the Set Up Slide Show window select Browsed by an individual (window) and select OK to close the dialog.

Now when you go to Slide Show (or Presentation) view, your slide show will launch in a resizable window, not full screen.

Using Google Slides

Google Slides also has the same feature as PowerPoint that allows you to go in "slide show" mode in your web browser window instead of full screen. You will need to change a quick setting when you go to present:

First, click the Present button at the top:

Then when you're in presentation mode, click the Contract icon on the presenter toolbar to go from full screen to just a window:

Once you're ready to share it with your Demio audience, you can select that individual web browser window to share from the screen sharing selection model.

Using Keynote

Keynote is by far the hardest presentation software to use with Demio, as it doesn't allow you to go in presentation mode without going full screen. That leaves you with a few options:

Option 1) You can share the Keynote window without going in slide show mode, but it will look like this:

Of course, this is not ideal as Attendees will be able to see all of the "tools" inside of Keynote. However, at least this way you can just share the individual Keynote window and monitor Demio chat at the same time.

Option 2) If you have a second computer such as a laptop, you can invite yourself as a second Coordinator for the webinar via a new email address. You can then join the webinar from your second computer strictly for monitoring chat on that computer. Mute your sound and mute your microphone. Then on the other computer, you can share your entire screen and go in full screen presentation mode. This way, you can monitor the webinar on one computer and present on the other computer.

Option 3) You can present in full screen and share your entire screen on Demio, and just minimize out of presentation mode every time you want to read the chat.

Option 4) If you have dual monitors, you can open the presentation on one monitor, and keep Demio open on the other monitor. Then, when selecting which screen to share on Demio, you would select the monitor that is displaying the presentation
