Let's get started! β‘οΈ
Materials are a great way for you to add shareable content (or shareable materials) to your Event. We currently have two types:
Presentation Slides: Prepare a presentation for the Event.
Video: Share a video during the Event.
We make it super easy to get them added! Once you do, they'll be available for you to share directly in the Event room itself.
Getting them added!
To start, you'll want to hop into the Event Options by clicking on the button at the right-hand side of the Event card and clicking Customize.
From there, you'll need to open the Customize tab and find the Room block where you can add new materials and manage existing ones.
Alternatively, from directly within your event, click on the Customize tab to open the customization options, then scroll down to the Room block.
π‘ Note: You can add up to 20 individual materials per Event.
π‘ You can drag and drop Materials to order them exactly as you want to see them in the room.
π‘ Demio will add all presentations and videos shared in the Session to the recording when the Session ends. Deleting the Materials before the recording is completed will automatically remove them from the recording data. Keep the slides and videos shared in the Session within Demio until the recording is ready.
Add a Slide Presentation
The first type of sharing Material you can add is slide presentations. To add a new slide presentation, go to Presentation Materials and select the Add A Material option.
Select Slides for the type of Material and give it a name.
Then you'll want to upload your slide file using the file upload box available. We support KEY, PPT, PPTX, DPS, ODP, POT, POTX, PPS, PPSX, PPTM, SDA, and PDF formats.
It'll take a few moments for the file to upload. Once it's finished uploading, the Add Material button will turn green.
You also have the option to Download Media or Delete Media by clicking on the 3 dots option.
Every presentation requires some time to process. Once it's completed, a thumbnail of the slide will appear and the slide count will be added beneath the title.
Dynamic Features Not Supported After Conversion
The following elements are removed or disabled when you upload presentations:
Animations: Embedded animations in PowerPoint or other presentation formats will not play after upload. They are converted into static images.
Animated GIFs: Any animation within GIF files is removed during the conversion process. The GIFs will appear as static images.
Video Files: Embedded videos in the presentation will not play. They will not be functional in the uploaded content.
Transition Effects: Custom-designed transition effects between slides are not preserved in the converted files.
π‘ Recommendations for Users
While Demio does not support animations and other dynamic elements in uploaded slides, there are alternative workflows to ensure your presentation looks and functions as intended during an event:
Screen Share to Preserve Animations: Use screen sharing through your preferred presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint) to display animations, transitions, and other effects live during your session. This method directly plays the presentation as designed without converting it into static images.
Upload Video Files Separately β¬οΈ: If your presentation includes video content, consider uploading the video files independently to your Demio event. This way, you can play the video as an individual media item during the session without relying on the presentation file itself.
Optimize Slide Design for Static Images: If you're unable to use screen sharing, focus on designing clear and visually engaging static slides that do not rely on animations or transitions.
Add a Video
The other type of sharing Material you can add is videos. To upload a new video, select Video for the type of Material instead. Remember to also give it a name!
Next, you can drag and drop the video of your choosing or browse and select one from your computer to start the upload process.
π‘ Note: We support the following file types: .MP4 .MPG .MPEG .M4V .AVI .FLV, and .WEBM up to a file size of 5 GB. The minimum duration of the video that can be uploaded is 20 seconds and the minimum height we support is 240px. It's best if you use a web-optimized video file.
β
Once it finishes uploading, the Add Material button will turn green.
You also now have the option to Download Media or Delete Media by clicking on the 3 dots.
That's it! Submit your changes, and you'll see it start to process and will appear in your list of materials.
Once it's finished processing, the video will appear in the room to start sharing it.
